The Port of Felixstowe will once again be taking part in the ‘Beachwatch’ scheme, run by the Suffolk Coasts and Heaths Unit. This year's clean up of the beach in front of the Landguard Viewing Area in Felixstowe will take place on the morning of Saturday 20th September.
Litter is bagged dependent upon its type, and analysed by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS). This is so that the MCS can identify the sources and target the main offenders, with the aim of reducing the pollution in the seas and on the beaches, and making them a more pleasant place to visit. In 2007, the Port's team of volunteers collected 12 bags of rubbish from the 400m of beach at the Viewing Area.
